"And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia ('furlong' kjv). Its length and width and height are equal." (Revelation 21:15-16 ESV)
Many compute this to be anywhere from 1378 to 1400 miles square. That is a huge building!
Jesus said:
"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14: 2)
Within New Jerusalem, the dwelling place (house) of God, the Lord's people will also each have his or her own dwelling place in it. In modern day language we would say that they each have a "unit," a "condo," an "apartment." Now, considering how large a building it is, how will one resident visit another in the complex? Will there be elevators and stairs to climb? Personally, I don't think there will be any. But, how can that be? How can I go from one end of the city or building seeing it is 140 miles away?
The answer to this question involves how we will travel in the ages to come.
Transportation is one of the biggest problems for civilizations. How can people go from one place to another quickly? How can goods be moved around the world? Today we have ships, planes, automobiles, etc. But, will we need and have them in the ages to come?
I believe we will travel as angels do now. I believe we will be able to project or transport ourselves from one location to another at the speed of light, much like we see in Star Trek with the "transporter."

P.S. Another thought to chew on. What will we do as believers, at the start of the Millennium, with all the nuclear facilities? How will we remove them? Other similar things also.
