Would Men Accuse You Of That?

"Of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh." (Eccl. 12: 12)

With regard to the bible, the word of God, can one accuse you of studying too much? Have you ever been fatigued by deep study of the word of God?

"Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, you art beside yourself; much learning makes you crazy." (Acts 26: 24)

Would anyone have any reason to think you were "mad" or "crazy" because of "much learning"? 

I cannot think of a better way for a man to choose to spend his time than in either studying the word of God or communicating it to others. What a noble occupation! What a privilege and delight! Enjoying God's presence in contemplation of his word! What a way to spend one's time! 

Paul said that those who "labor in the word and doctrine" should be highly esteemed. (I Tim. 5: 17) It is labor, it is tiring, but it is rewarding, both now and forever. 

The exhortation to believers is "give attendance to reading" and "to doctrine" ( I Tim. 4: 13); And, to "let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom" (Col. 3: 16).

Knowledge of the holy scriptures contains spiritual vitamins for the soul, fortifying their minds and spirits, giving them a preventative against moral failings, against sin. Said the Psalmist:

"Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you." (Psa. 119: 11)

One must question the salvation of any professed believer who does not have a love for the word of God.
