The Voice of Jesus

The song "No Never Alone" is a song I used to remember singing while in the "Primitive Baptist" church. It is in many of their songbooks. I want to cite one verse in it and make a comment upon it.

I've seen the lightning flashing and heard the thunder roll;
I've felt sin's breakers dashing, trying to conquer my soul;
I've heard the voice of Jesus telling me still to fight on
He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.

I wonder how the Hardshells hear the voice of Jesus, and how they hear that voice saying "fight on still." Is this a direct speaking or a speaking through the words of scripture? See my previous posting "Immediate Inspiration in Hardshell Regeneration" (here) where I discuss the Hardshell "direct speaking (voice) of Christ."

Hardshells deny that they hear the voice of Jesus indirectly through the preaching of the gospel and word of God and yet they sing such songs which clearly disprove this idea. Oh consistency, thou art a jewel.

This song is well sung by Justus (all four parts) on Youtube (here)
