You Will Gladly Forget Your Life?

"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." (Isa. 65: 17 nasb)

The statement about those who have eternal life in the new heavens and earth not remembering the former old heavens and earth, and by inference, their history and life in it, is profound and worth meditating upon.

How much will we remember of our lives on earth? How much will we remember about the history of the world, of the old heavens and earth?

Problem: will we not remember the life of Christ upon the old earth? Will that be forgotten? Will the gospel be forgotten? How could it? But, if the former things of old earth are not remembered, would this not include our knowledge of the life of Christ, of the story of man and his redemption?

Problem: if we know that our family and loved ones are in Hell, how can we be happy in heaven? Would one possible solution be in the fact that former things are not remembered?

Will it be a case where we gladly forget the old world in which we were born and lived?

What think ye?
