Most PBs today will surely have heard of the late Elder Cecil Darity of Georgia. He had a lot to do with bringing Elder Bradley over from the Missionary Baptists to the "Old School" side. He has preached many times at Cincinnati church since he helped to constitute it in the 1960s. I knew him. He came to eastern North Carolina about 1980 and preached in the churches I pastored there.
Elder Darity was one of their best preachers. My folks loved him when he preached for us. One of the things that made Darity a highly respected and sought after preacher among the Hardshells was his ability to preach with emotion and excitement (and calm at times also) while at the same time teaching the people solid meat. Recently I spoke of "dry as dust" preaching that now seems to characterize many of the larger Hardshell churches. Well, brother Darity's preaching was never such!
Elder Darity mixed the old style of country preaching with a teaching style. This is what I was talking about and Elder Darity is a good example (among the PBs) of uplifting preaching.
Here is a link to a Video sermon (here) by Darity. The sermon is titled "Precious in His Sight." See him start out slowly and work to climaxes.
